Supporting Those Who Have Served
America's Heroes at Work: Supporting Those Who Have Served Others

Military personnel transitioning to the civilian workforce offer America's businesses a ready source of committed job candidates with transferable skills and real-world experience. The ability to adapt, learn quickly and get the job done exemplify the military experience — and are also the hallmarks of a model employee.

Employers of Veterans have an important role in ensuring their continued success. Some Service Members return home with injuries that may not be visible, but can impact daily life, including employment. The changing nature of combat today has caused a sharp increase in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), which are increasingly recognized as the signature injuries of the current operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Now, a free TBI, PTSD & Employment online training tool is available to assist employers and co-workers of Veterans to better understand TBI and PTSD in the workplace and how to support individuals who may be living with these conditions. Typically, awareness and a few simple environmental adaptations are all that is necessary for an employer to benefit from a dedicated, skilled employee who has sacrificed in service to others.
