Veterans Day 2012 President's Message

This is the eleventh Veterans day since the attacks of 911. America is now at war for a longer period of time than any other in her history. The sacrifices we have asked of our military are not only overwhelming, they're unsustainable. We as a country have to re-evaluate our fighting needs around the world.

Now that the election is over, we need to focus our efforts on protecting the benefits we have worked so hard for the last ten years.

As most politicians will tell you "all politics are local". Regardless of what happens in D.C., the real work is done at the community level. As different bills come up to cut funding and benefits, it's imperative that we at the Chapter level let our local ongressmen and senators know how we feel. Let them know that if they, regardless of party, vote for anything that hurts our military or Veterans, we will run them out of office.

Every year I wait until Veterans Day to write this letter to you. This day is always mixed with sadness, flashbacks and hope.

Let us pray that at next years Veteran's Day all our warriors will be headed home. That our politicians realize how precious our best and brightest are. That they don't waste our lives over stupid issues. That the sacrifices we've made, make us "untouchable" when it comes to benefits.

I know it's naive, but I believe that no one should be able to serve in D.C. unless they've served in uniform.

But, we can work to that end.

Brother and Sister Veterans, thank you for your service to our Country and to your fellow veterans.

"A country that doesn't stand by it's Veterans, will one day fall, for lack of the Veteran."

Respectfully,

Joe Morgan, President

Veterans of Modern Warfare "It's About the Warrior"
